CURRENT ISSUES IN THE MEAT INDUSTRY

  
As trade association, RMA main job is to represent its member interests. We present our opinions materializing the association activities of lobby and advocacy: written materials addressed to different ministries and institutions, press releases, etc.


Având în vedere prevederile art. 34 din Ordonanta de urgenta a Guvernului nr. 97/2001 privind reglementarea productiei, circulatiei si comercializarii alimentelor, aprobata cu modificari si completari prin Legea nr. 57/2002, tinând cont de prevederile art. 10 lit. b) din Ordonanta Guvernului nr. 42/2004 privind organizarea activitatii sanitar-veterinare si pentru siguranta alimentelor, aprobata cu modificari si completari prin Legea nr. 215/2004, cu modificarile si completarile ulterioare.

Scopul sistemului HACCP este de a se asigura cã alimentul este produs în sigurantã. Acest lucru se realizeazã prin identificarea si controlul efectiv al pericolelor alimentelor. Este recunoscut faptul cã cele mai importante riscuri alimentare în carnea proaspãtã sunt bacteriile care pot cauza boli la oameni (bacterii patogene), cum ar fi Salmonella, Campylobacter si E. coli O157.

Our authorities got to the conclusion (almost to the end of transition period) that this transition should be delayed- ideally, sine die, thus everyone to ... prosper.
This action is justified per se, especially because it's crisis, therefore businesses are dragging their feet, so the companies (including the serious ones) cannot observe deadline of 31 December, there were also delays in Sapard Program, etc. Still, this aproval should be given in strict conditions, so that its benefits overcome negative effects.

Clasical Swine Fever creates many problems to the farmers but also to the processors, because it forces us to use health stamps that are different from those used in EU and, first of all, forbids our products access to the Common Market.
Therefore, we need the aproval that meat processing plants using exclusively pork coming from CSF- free countries or regions are allowed to sell their products on EU market.
